European Coworking Day offers Hereford freelancers and small businesses chance to connect and collaborate across borders

Hereford’s freelance and small business community are getting the chance to connect, learn and work with international counterparts as part of the first-ever European Coworking Day.

The Shell Store, at Skylon Park, is partnering with coworking spaces across Europe to hold a free, digital networking event where local businesses can make international connections, learn best practice and explore trade opportunities, as well as being offered free coworking for the day.

May 10 is the first-ever European Coworking Day and, to mark the occasion, coworking spaces across the continent are joining to connect and work together. The event is being run by Town Square Spaces Ltd (TownSq) in partnership with the European Coworking Assembly.

The event will give all attendees a chance to introduce themselves and their businesses before moving to smaller groups where they can learn more about each other and explore opportunities, as well as share contact and work details.

Laura Hall, Community Manager for The Shell Store, said: “Coworking is more than just sharing space, it’s about the collaborations, support, learning and natural networking that happens when you share challenges and triumphs together.

“International collaboration can sometimes be tough for freelancers or small businesses who might not have the connections or are not part of wider trade or research efforts. Coworking can be the tool that connects us with these growth opportunities.

“This event will be the first of its kind in Hereford and we’re proud to be leading it alongside our European partners. The event isn’t just for our coworking members, but any local freelancers, workers or businesses who are interested to connect with European counterparts – either to explore what work they could do together or to learn new ways of doing things that can be adopted locally.

“Those who sign up will also be given free access to the coworking space for the day if they want to come down and use our space after the event or to explore the business support and advice we offer.”

Claudius Krucker, the project lead at the European Coworking Assembly said: “With the European Coworking Day, we not only strive to make coworking better known and invite people to experience coworking on this day, but also to connect various communities across national borders. We’re very happy to support this initiative by Town Square and encourage our growing network to seize this great opportunity to meet more people and help them work together.“

The event will take place on Wednesday, May 10 at 8 am UK time (9am CEST), and is open to any local businesses or workers who feel this might benefit.
