We are very pleased to be welcoming two new investors to Skylon Park, GB Electrical and Building Services Ltd and LDP Engineering Ltd.
GB Electrical and Building Services Ltd
The move to Skylon Park this month will be a significant one for home-grown Hereford success story GB Electrical and Building Services Ltd.
The firm, established in 1991 by husband and wife Terry and Sue Pickering, will take up residence in purpose built premises supplying office space, stores facility and the bespoke joinery division of the business.
The 20,000 sq ft premises will be a huge leap from its existing 10,000 sq ft site in the city centre’s Portland Street.
Director, Sue Pickering, who is overseeing the new development along with Operations Director Matthew Edwards, said: “We have outgrown our current home and its location is difficult for deliveries as it is situated on a single width, mainly residential street.
“The Enterprise Zone was the ideal location for us. As a local business, employing local people and sub-contractors and with an established supply chain, we were keen to stay in Hereford.
“We’ve worked closely with the team at Skylon Park to develop a footprint for the future that suits our business and underpins our plans for growth, which includes recruiting more staff. We are currently fitting out the inside of the building and hope to move in within the next few months.”
LDP Engineering Ltd
One of the latest businesses to be welcomed onto Skylon Park is the country’s leading manufacturer of bespoke beds for the iconic VW camper van.
The move to 4,200 sq ft of purpose built premises will allow LDP Engineering, trading as Rusty Lee’s Handmade Rock ‘N’ Roll Beds, to expand and employ more staff to meet the demand for its custom-made products.
Lee Pickering started the business 13 years ago and now employs two full-time staff. He said the new facility would underpin his strategy for future growth and development.
“We are recognised as one of leading manufacturers in Europe of bespoke beds for all makes of VW and other camper vans. We have built a reputation for our high quality products and the standard of service we provide.
“But we can’t fulfil demand for our products at our current location in Hereford. The new premises will give us room to expand our operation, introduce new ranges and open an on-site fitting service. Being able to design and build premises that are bespoke to our needs was one of the key factors that attracted me to the Enterprise Zone.
“Our new base will allow us to fulfil the potential of the business and take on more staff.”
